Romans Ch.1
February 21st, 2007Paul writes to the Church in Rome. . .
the first few verses establish Jesus Christ as being who he said he was, God’s son.
verse 3:”concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh 4: and was established as the Powerful Son of God by the resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of Holiness.”
folks, Jesus was who he said he was. its always cool to realize that, it never gets old to get that reality check. Jesus was God “in the flesh” when he was on earth. The God of the universe. The God of the universe came off his might mighty thrown in heaven and died a gruesome death for us. how sweet is that. no greater love my friends.
Paul identifies himself as a slave for Christ, writing what God puts into his heart.
in vs.5 he says, “we have recieved grace and apostleship through Him to bring about the obidience of faith among all the nations, on behalf of His name.”
ah yes, we are called to do the same as Paul in our lives. dang man it so much easier said then done! it should not be this way, when we look at the situation. in verse 16:”For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes. . . 17: For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith(referring to Habakuk 2:4) 18: For God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteuosness supress the truth.”
this is kind of a scary passage, but it brings up a question with an obvious answer: who will win in the end? well, as a believer i know it will be God. what matters is living the way He wants us to live. Further on in Ch.1, Paul points out how much sin has found its way into the hearts of men. vs.21:”For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22: Claiming to be wise, they became fools 23: and excanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles. 24: Therefore God delivered them over in the cravings of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. 25:They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
i think this passage shows us just how much sin can have an influence in our lives. sin pulls us farther from God, and the more sin is in our lives, the harder it is to be close to God. so all in all, it must be that in order to live our lives for God and not be at all ashamed of the Gospel truth, we must filter all sin possible from our lives. i think it is also nessecary to point out that there is an inverse relationship between the two, meaning that the more God is in our lives, the easier it becomes to live a live modeled after Him, because he is closer to our hearts than sin. the desires of our heart mean nothing, we cannot choose to serve those desires, only to serve God.ÂÂ
i hope this isnt too confusing, heehee. . .
but seriously, i would love to talk about this, so if anyone happens to be confused, maybe i can help. if i am confused, maybe you can help.
God bless us, every one! WHOO im out dizzle.
